Workshop Description

Whether you are working on becoming a more sex positive provider or working towards AASECT Certification this workshop will provide you with must have foundational skills. Together we will learn the art of taking a sexual health assessment that is affirming and trauma informed. From there we will break down the complexities of using the DSM-V-TR and the ICD-11 to define and diagnose Sexual Dysfunctions, Gender Dysphoria, and Paraphilic Disorders. Finally we will expand these concepts across the gender spectrum, allowing providers to think beyond the binary and move from concepts of dysfunction and pathology towards pleasure, euphoria, and embodiment.

These skills are crucial when working with individuals and relationships as a therapist, health advocate, coach, surrogate partner, or healthcare professional.  We cannot help folks unlock their pleasure if we cannot first understand their discomfort and pain.

This workshop is designed to support those training to become Sex Therapist, Sex Counselors, or Sex Educators, and other spiritual,  behavioral, medical, and sexual health and wellness professionals. The workshop will be most beneficial for Master’s and PhD level clinicians, medical professionals, and those who have advanced training in a behavioral or social field.

This workshop will not include touch.

Hi, I’m Nick. I am a trans masculine genderqueer Professional Counselor, Sex, Therapist and Supervisor and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with you! I am a seasoned and talented therapist but my true joy in life is mentoring, supervising, and sharing what I have learned across my career.

Having worked with hundreds of trans and gender expansive folks over the years, Nick is able to traverse the biopsychosocial model of assessment whether working with cis-gender or gender expansive folks. His expertise with the DSM-V-TR  and ICD-10/11, as well as WPATH SOC provide him the skills needed to teach this class.
