Content Clarification

Throughout the presentation Dr. Neuman uses the term PEP. We would like to ensure learners are aware he is referencing DoxyPEP.

It is crucial to distinguish between PrEP, PEP, and DoxyPEP, as each serves a unique function in the realm of sexual health.

PrEP is a preventive measure against HIV.

PEP is an emergency treatment for potential HIV exposure.

DoxyPEP is used to lower the risk of bacterial STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Unlike PrEP and PEP, which focus on HIV, DoxyPEP involves taking doxycycline after potential exposure to these bacterial STIs but does not prevent HIV.

Understanding these distinctions is vital for anyone involved in sexual health education and care. We recognized this oversight immediately following recording of the live workshop and want to ensure all viewers are aware of these differences to avoid any confusion.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email Dr. Neuman directly or our team at [email protected].
